Origins
In order to fully understand Gangline, I must start at the beginning.
Nestled in the quiet foothills of the high-desert, on the ridgeline of a sunset, lived 32 the world’s most cherished champion sled dogs. It was in these magical hills full of intense beauty and mystery, a dream pure of heart was born.
To say these awesome creatures were ‘just dogs’ would be a wildly inaccurate description of their character and the impact they had on shaping who I am. As a child, my time with them instilled an intense love and respect for animals into the core of my being.
My Father taught me that every sled dog should be allowed to shine through their own unique strengths. The team is a family, and a family doesn’t give conditional love. Many of the dogs that found themselves in our kennel were "misfits" from other teams. Well, those "misfits" became world champions because of their differences. Where others saw flaws, we saw their potential. We gave them the opportunity to step into their individuality and thrive.
I spent every moment I could around them, learning the inner workings of the dogyard. They taught me about love, patience, grit, support, confidence, perseverance and the most important lesson of all: being different will never be a weakness.
As I tell you a bit of their story, I feel the sting of nostalgia for the lives they lead on and off the gangline. To this day, I can still hear them howling with affection in the dogyard when the wind blows just right.
This brand, 'Gangline', is inspired by them.
